Stephen Biko. (Oh, Biko, Biko, Because, Biko)...
What a dude. Some things are enough to make me unsettled, like "Black is Beautiful"- seems a little whitey-hating to me, but overall... I had to explain to the big kid what he died of (as if I know) and basically explained to him that this man was murdered.
I like Stephen Biko a lot.

Feral Children
Sparked by a show on TLC last night, here's what I'm learning about today. Feral Children, those poor kids who are abandoned by the human grown ups in their lives, left to fend for themselves.
One boy on the show was abandoned when he was 2. TWO. He was raised (in Russia) by a pack of dogs.
What. The. Fuck.
http://www.feralchildren.com/en/index.php.
You know, the stories are a whole lot more vague than I thought they would be. I guess that's not really so surprising since most of these poor souls never learn to communicate well. Jaysus what a crazy place this Earth is.

Aribert Heim
Along the lines of Mengele, this was another Nazi doctor. Here's a quote:
According to a former camp inmate, an 18-year-old Jewish youth came to the clinic with a foot inflammation. He was asked by Heim why it was that he was so fit. He replied that he had been a soccer player and swimmer. Instead of treating the prisoner's foot, Heim placed him under anesthesia, cut him open, took apart one kidney, removed the second and castrated him. The boy was decapitated and Heim boiled the flesh off the skull so it could be displayed, the former inmate said.
Holyfuckingshit. Are you kidding me? And yet, I'm fascinated...
Son of Sam
Son of Sam, due to catching the last 3 minutes of the Spike Lee film, Summer of Sam. What a freak-o. I do love a serial killer.
Since I was in that mood, I also googled Ted Bundy, Jeffrey Dahmer, and John Wayne Gacy. Finding myself extremely glad that my last name is not Bundy, Dahmer, or Gacy. Or of Sam.
Wikipedia may or may not be entirely accurate, but it would seem that these losers, David Berkowitz not withstanding, find Jesus pretty quickly once they start their prison sentances.
And the 70s must have been kind of scary- the serial killers were abundant then. I wonder if my parents thought about it, or if they lived in some kind of Little Rock, Arkansas Eutopia.
